What's the lowdown on "The Good Shepherd"?

Looking for information about DeNiro's new flick "The Good Shepherd", which he directed and in which he stars with Matt Damon, A. Jolie, Joe Pesci and Alec Baldwin.
This tagline found on IMBD.org, The true story of the birth of the CIA through the eyes of a man who never existed, plus the fact the DeNiro directs, leads me to believe it might be a hatchet job on the CIA.
TOPICS: Military/Veterans; Miscellaneous; TV/Movies
KEYWORDS: deniro; goodshepherd; movie; thegoodshepherd
Anyone want to weigh in on it?

Just remember the immortal words of "Arec Bawwin" in
Team America:
And then Team America goes out, and the corporations sit their in their corporation buildings and see.. they're all corporationy.. and they make money.
And if that's not enough, Matt...Damon stars in the movie as well
I don't hold out high hopes for it.

In the promos, Matt Damon says "they were all WASPS..."
Apparently he's never heard of William Donovan.

I think it looks good. Don't know how accurate or poltically unbiased it will be. However, it looks interesting. I will be going to see it.

DeNiro is an interesting guy. Generally, he doesn't pander to the left. I thought "Ronin" was good.

Although he has fallen into the same rut as Pacino and Nicholson of playing himself in each movie, his schtick is less noticeable. Of course just like them he can safely trade off his past work. I still find myself going to see his movies anyway.

Interesting movie on how the 'powers that be' see themselves as running America.
One of the best lines in the movie is in the mob boss Joe Pesci 'man of honor' scene where he asks a rhetorical question of the CIA's fixer; -- "What do you people ['the establishment'] think you have?"
And Matt's character says "-- We have The United States of America. The rest of you are just visiting. --"
Classic comment, imho... -- 'The beltway boys' really do think that way.

According to Michael Medved, it's a dark, dreadful, boring three hour long distortion of history.

Wish I had known that before I went to see this soulless 2 hour and 48 minute cold, sterile "piece of work" tonight. I left with the feeling I had just spent 3 hours in a lifeless hospital room. A truly awful film.

My friend has seen the ads, and the way they are pushing this, and calling this a stinker explains, "I see dead movies"
As of December 30, 2006 there are NO USER REVIEWS on Yahoo even though it's been out since December 22, 2006. Please check http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1808716032/info
"We Are Marshall" got 17 user reviews, and it's been out for the same amount of time, and the rating by 17 users is "A". Please see http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1809267427/info
This also clues me that no one likes "The Good Shepherd".
