Oh, my. That ain't good. I wish he would have came clean a long time ago and admitted to someone privately that he had these problems and stepped down. He can be forgiven but he went wrong in continuing to decieve his flock.
Yes, he should have openly admitted the problem to his wife and himself when he started as a lowly pastor.
IMO denial leads to a seared spirit which cannot make correct choices. And if this is mixed with a "charismatic" spirit...look out.
