COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Reuters) - Disgraced U.S. evangelist Ted Haggard, a vocal opponent of gay marriage, said on Sunday that he was guilty of "sexual immorality" and that he had long battled with a "repulsive" side of his life.

"I am guilty of sexual immorality, I am a deceiver and a liar. There is a part of my life that is so repulsive and dark and I've been warring against it my entire adult life", Haggard said in a letter that was read to his New Life Church in Colorado Springs by a church overseer.

> Yes the fall of a leader like Haggard is a blow to all evangelicals. It shouldn't be, but it is.

It should be taken as an opportunity to clean house... drive all the merchants out of the temple!

Its always a sad day when this happens to the christian community. Jesus came and died on the cross for all men and women because of our imperfection. If we were perfect or could be perfect Jesus died in vain and for no reason.
If this were an ordinary citizen we would never hear about it in the main stream media. This is the penalty for those in leadership positions. I guess if we have a weakness, it would be better to not accept such a position.
I am praying for this man that God will heal him of this sickness. It is easy to condem but it is of no benefit.

After I posted my questions to you I did a search. Apparently he adopted that false persona as a clever marketing ploy. Didn't mind people laughing at him as long as his name was getting out there. Retail sales for his product are in the $600million neighborhood.

Wow, I didn't know he was faking it! For that kind of cash, I'd fake it too!

Well...In New York state there must be a lot of crazy drunks...Even the NY Post, which leans right, came out to endorse Hillary in her reelection bid.

(NY has a Conservative Party, and most Republican candidates can be found on both the Republican line and the Conservative line on the ballot--I vote straight conservative line myself.)

Good luck with that. Money has a way of perpetuating such things.

"As a Christian who has been been in the face by homosexual on two different occasions I find it hard to believe that so many would be deceived by this wolf in sheep's clothing. "

I'm sorry, but that just makes no sense. Could you try again, so I can understand what you're saying? How would people know that this guy was a homosexual?

Group of "evangelical related organizations", not an "evangelical group" at all ~ not even religious in nature ~ certainly not a church ~ not as important as the folks who print Sundayschool lessons.

Evangelicals, in case no one had noticed this before, tend not to have a Pope.

He didn't allow himself to get pulled into anywhere. He is a professional conman. He made all the arrangements.

This is, as it were, a quasi-fundamentalist church operation.

It's short of a "jump and shout" deal ~ which wouldn't be possible at a service seating 7,500 people.

I know some of them get quite large, but more than a few hundred people the noise is unbearable and drowns out the choir and orchestra.

Haggard was also jumping on board the "Global Warming" deal according to various articles referenced previously in this thread. Just read several of them and this guy seems more like a Methodist than a Baptist Fur Shur.

All evangelicals are not fundamentalists. All fundamentalists are not evangelicals.
