This is true. When I was 16 and worked at K-Mart they had the phones to where you couldn't dial out...or so they thought. Just tap out the numbers and an outside calling you will go!

My wife is deaf and up until recently (still does but not so much) use a tty to make calls. When my wife made out of town calls through the relay service (the relay service is a 1-800 number which I thought were free) the calls would be billed through MCI at $0.55 per minute!! It takes longer to carry on a conversation through a tty and especially if you use the relay service so we were getting hit hard on the phone bill.

The phone companies don't care, it's wrong and something should be done about it.
