It's one possibility. We are all just speculating about the psychology of the person who did this. As to whether or not it's Karr remains to be seen.

My feelings are that the perp had several psychological factors in play. Most obvious is pedophilia. The person also seems to have some deep seeded hatred toward, as well as a need to be admired by, high status people. And, there seems to be an obsessive interest in crimes against children. At least that is my take since I think the *beheaded* notation in the ransom note may be referring to the Walsh case. Given his obsessiveness, and that this was an elite family with a beautiful child, these traits gave way to a stalker like mentality. The need to taunt and control play into the stalker type persona. How long this stalking went on is unknown. It could have begun that night at the Ramsey's party, if the perp was in attendance. It could have been going on for awhile. If it does turn out to be this guy, it's still going on.

It is clear though that he was obsessed with the Ramsey case, and his attempt to contact Patsy is a part of that. He was probably aware that Patsy was dying and if he wished to interject himself into her life he would have to do so quickly. He's a sick individual, maybe even sick enough to have done this. Until we see more convincing evidence though I'm withholding judgment on him regarding the murder.

Could it be possible that this guy is totally delusional. When the Ramsey's became aware of him, they decided to use him as a patsy (pardon the pun).
