Mark Furhman stated that contrary to public belief, the basement window was never opened.

The cobwebs were intact, the interior window sill was dusty and unroiled, there were no footprints in the snow outside, etc.

I need to look back, but there was a documentary that included an analysis from a retired detective that was hired by the DA, I believe. It's been awhile. I do remember this guy had great credentials, years of experience, and is highly respected in his field. He specifically talked about the evidence that led him to believe someone had come in through that window. There was a picture of the grate with the grass caught underneath it. He was a large man, and demonstrated how it was possible for some to enter the home. It was quick, and frighteningly simple, even for a man of his size. What was also interesting was that his foot hit the wall at about the exact spot of the smudge on the wall as he came in.

It's all just speculation! It's just also very likely that it was an intruder, and not the parents. That's the point of my posts. The footprints in the snow was a publicity leak. The investigator that did this demonstration above, had commented that he believed them to be guilty based on the statement about the footprints. He'd not seen pictures though until he was hired. He actually went into the job expecting to confirm their guilt. When he saw pictures they showed very, very little snow, and it was only in patches. It would have been harder to go out of the way to step in it, then avoid it. As he dug into the case, his mind was changed about the Ramsey's involvement.
