Are you saying you want the option between the chronological organization of thread comments and the hierarchical organization of thread comments?
Having an option so that the "Show replies" button could indicate when decendent posts have replies could be useful. When reading a whole thread, such indications may add clutter, but when trying to determine whether it's worth adding a post, such indications could be helpful.
