This is really great news. I just hope Barbaro "senses" that he needs to take it easy and let things heal up. So far, the spirited 3 y/o seems to be doing just that...

Yes, sir.

Barbaro seems like a very reasonable and wise young horse. .............. more reasonable than my wife of 34 years.

;-)

Good morning "Sea." Like you I'm so glad that Barbaro continues to improve. So please forgive me for putting in a word of caution. You love the colt and I don't want to see you get hurt if things go south with him.

With all my heart I hope that he continues to have an amazing recovery. But we shouldn't kid ourselves. He has a long, long way to go before he's out of the woods. Even if he makes it, he'll never have a truly normal life for a horse. That ankle will be fused and he won't have any movement in it. Not being a vet, I couldn't say if he'll have some degree of pain in that leg for the rest of his life. He'll certainly be subject to arthritis there.

At this early stage, it's uncertain if he could ever be turned out in a paddock, let alone mount a mare.

There are still so many things that could go wrong, so we all need to continue to cross our fingers and hope for the best -- and pray if we are so inclined. :)
