Roughed up by cop, parking ticket aide says
Chicago Sun Times ^ | May 27, 2006 | ERIC HERMAN

Posted on 05/28/2006 10:22:17 PM PDT by ConservativeStatement

A Chicago Police officer roughed up a parking ticket supervisor last week, the supervisor alleged, arresting her and throwing her into a police wagon when she refused to void a ticket on an officer's car.

The alleged victim, Jackie Fegan of the city's Traffic Management Authority, plans to sue the city, her lawyer said. She wept Friday as she described the incident, in which four officers allegedly took part.

"They were hurting me. They wouldn't stop," Fegan said. "It's unreal. One minute I'm working, and the next minute I'm being hauled off and hurt and thrown into a paddy wagon."

I've never heard of an arrest for jaywalking. That doesn't sound right.

"Reid has been on the force 26 years and is on medical leave, Bond said."

Paid medical leave, I'm sure. With a full disability retirement to follow. Happens all the time.

Really? If I was to pick up 140 pounds and toss it in a paddy wagon my knees would buckle too. :)

Yup....and the taxpayer will get fleeced while the arresting officer, at worst, enjoys a paid vacation.

Since she's a parking ticket supervisor then no doubt she deserved it, though I'm sure the cop was in the wrong.. ;^)

This one has hit the lottery. I see early retirement in her future.

It's not noted in what's posted here but apparently it was an off duty cop who got the ticket. He asked the parking cop to 'non-summons' it and she refused saying she couldn't do that because it was already in her book.

That's apparently when things got ugly.

Having some experience with Chicago parking cops I can tell you they would hang a ticket on Jesus' donkey without a second thought.

However I must say that usual procedure for an off duty cop is to hang the band from their duty cap on the rear view mirror to alert other LE types that the car doesn't belong to an ordinary serf. Maybe he forgot to do that.

Another little CPD trick was to toss a handcuffed perp into the back of the paddy wagon and 'forget' to buckle them in. Then they take a nice, long ride to the station house taking lots of corners at high speeds.

They can honestly say "I never laid a hand on him, Sarge!". IIRC someone died from that a few years back.

Chicago...what a town.

The DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) police have been known to throw people in jail for jay walking.

It is amazing what the Dallas transit "police" can do when they're not stuffing their pie holes with donuts.

In Chicago that means somebody's palm did not get greased.

The cop is on a quick "medical leave" like Patches Kennedy fled immediately into the warm protecting arms of Mayo Clinic.

There should be more free parking everywhere, not less. Less cars driving around means less pollution of the precious environment. Less gasoline being used, etc.

Personally, I think shooting "parking enforcement" officers is OK.

No. Whether the woman is a meter maid or no, she is still a woman. Gentlemen do not manhandle or strike women. The four "police officers" (felons and cowards hiding behind a badge) should be removed from the force and, if found guilty of assault and battery, face the appropriate jail time.

When I first skimmed this, I thought " this can't be the US". Then I noticed that it was Chicago.
