Duke Lacrosse DNA: Mystery Man Revealed (Accuser's Boyfriend!!!)
ABC News ^ | 13 May 06 | CHRIS CUOMO, GERRY WAGSCHAL, CHRIS FRANCESCANI and LARA SETRAKIAN

May 13, 2006 — The second round of DNA test results in the Duke University rape investigation show "no conclusive match'' to any lacrosse players, defense attorneys said, but a vaginal swab of the alleged rape victim produced DNA from a "single male source'' — a man not on the lacrosse team who did not attend a March 13 party that was the site of the alleged rape.

Joe Cheshire, a defense attorney for Duke University lacrosse players at the center of a rape investigation, said the latest tests show no conclusive match to any of the lacrosse players' DNA. (ABC News

Defense attorney Joe Chesire declined to identify the mystery man or his connection to the alleged victim, but ABC News' Law and Justice Unit has learned that the unnamed source of the DNA is the alleged victim's "boyfriend," according to her mother.

ABC News is withholding the name of the man because he is apparently not a target of the investigation. Records indicate that Durham, N.C., police gave the "boyfriend'' a cheek swab to collect DNA on May 3, ABC News' Law and Justice Unit has learned exclusively.

It is unclear if or how the first DNA tests missed what appears to be the only foreign genetic material found on the alleged victim's body, defense attorneys said. Two Duke lacrosse players were indicted more than two weeks before the cheek swab was taken from the "boyfriend."

It is also unclear whether the alleged victim had sex with the "boyfriend" the night she claims to have been raped by three Duke lacrosse players. DNA experts tell ABC News that genetic traces of semen can remain in the body up to six days after intercouse.

Who ever was bopping her took it out before ejactulation and she had alot of sticky on her legs and in her pubic hair. That could explain Nifong's statement; he might be so stupid as to think no semen would be inside. It might also explain why he hung his hat on the DNA. There was so much ejaculate on the outside of her body-he just knew those rich, white boys raped her.

Yeeech. The visual is killing me.

Even without the general election and the slight chance of a successful write in candidate (that's close to impossible to do), he's so invested that he's got to continue the charade down to the bitter end and demonstrate to his constituency, even if the lax members are not convicted, it's not because he didn't break every rule trying. As long as he continues to do that he will be a hero in the Durham community that elected him in the first place. We're thinking logically and he's counting on the irrational hatred of Duke from a segment of the Durham population.

I can't see where NiFong CAN bow out. I think the next move would be by the Defense to make a motion based on the evidence to have all charges dropped.

Do we know what the calendar says and who the judge will be?? When I see cases moved to a different date on the calendar, I perceive that they are "picking" the Judge. (I Dated an attorney for 10 years)

With all the DNA in the semen, why would you send it to a second lab?? I thought NiFong said the reason was that they couldn't certify to the DNA testing (or something like that.

So why did DiFong send it to that lab in the first place??

From your earlier post about Tate, did you notice:

Acting on complaints from four clients, Real Estate Commission investigators determined that Tate and his partner Joseph Williams could not account for at least $35,000 and possibly as much as $100,000 in rent money that was paid by tenants but never reached the landlords... The Real Estate Commission revoked Tate's and Williams' licenses last August (Independent Weekly, "State shuts down Durham real estate firm," Sept. 29, 2004, (www.indyweek.com/durham/2004-09-29/news.html).

The phone at Tate's former Fayetteville Street office has been disconnected; he could not be reached for comment. Williams, a Durham Police Department employee who resigned from the firm in 2003, was not charged, Davis said.

Durham County court records show the four felony counts filed last month are not Tate's first brush with the law. He also has a history of traffic and misdemeanor criminal charges over the last two decades. Since 1983, he has been charged with 35 offenses, including three counts of writing worthless checks, one count of carrying a concealed weapon and several counts of driving with his license revoked.

This all sort of fits with Tates5's posts about her cousin and Crystal's preference for bad guys who are successful. It also shows that Tate is very well known to the Durham Police Department.

It sounds like they have a big rat's nest down in Durham. Once they start poking that police department with a stick we're going to see the rats running in all directions.

Yes...And if the phone call was THAT casual, I would say the call was DIRECTED to someone who knew her.

At first I thought that "RS," meant Resident Superior Court Judge Orlando Hudson, but now I see that "RS," is probably Ronald Stephens.

Still haven't figured out what xo means by it

xo's first post was an article about an early 90's SBI investigation into a prostitution ring run by the members of the Durham PD. The DA at the time was Ronald Stephens, now the judge in this case. Hence the reference to his "long memory."

The best I could decipher, xo seems to be suggesting major corruption within the Durham Police Department. Considering the sweeheart deals both Mangum and Roberts received for serious crimes, it would seem that they have a special relationship with law enforcement.

That's my guess at to what he's hinting at, but your guess is as good as mine.

I was reading from your link and saw this and did a big hmmmmm.

If she likes black boys, why a pubic hair found on her body belonged to a white one?

One wonders if her BF IS a white guy.

MATTHEW MURCHISON Age:

Read "boyfriend" as the last guy she has sex with, probably for money. After all, she was working on about her third date of the night.

Well, the press isn't getting much information from Nifong now that he won the election. And the defense and their private investigators have to know so much. Just wish they'd tell us! ;)
