Duke Lacrosse DNA: Mystery Man Revealed (Accuser's Boyfriend!!!)
ABC News ^ | 13 May 06 | CHRIS CUOMO, GERRY WAGSCHAL, CHRIS FRANCESCANI and LARA SETRAKIAN

May 13, 2006 — The second round of DNA test results in the Duke University rape investigation show "no conclusive match'' to any lacrosse players, defense attorneys said, but a vaginal swab of the alleged rape victim produced DNA from a "single male source'' — a man not on the lacrosse team who did not attend a March 13 party that was the site of the alleged rape.

Joe Cheshire, a defense attorney for Duke University lacrosse players at the center of a rape investigation, said the latest tests show no conclusive match to any of the lacrosse players' DNA. (ABC News

Defense attorney Joe Chesire declined to identify the mystery man or his connection to the alleged victim, but ABC News' Law and Justice Unit has learned that the unnamed source of the DNA is the alleged victim's "boyfriend," according to her mother.

ABC News is withholding the name of the man because he is apparently not a target of the investigation. Records indicate that Durham, N.C., police gave the "boyfriend'' a cheek swab to collect DNA on May 3, ABC News' Law and Justice Unit has learned exclusively.

It is unclear if or how the first DNA tests missed what appears to be the only foreign genetic material found on the alleged victim's body, defense attorneys said. Two Duke lacrosse players were indicted more than two weeks before the cheek swab was taken from the "boyfriend."

It is also unclear whether the alleged victim had sex with the "boyfriend" the night she claims to have been raped by three Duke lacrosse players. DNA experts tell ABC News that genetic traces of semen can remain in the body up to six days after intercouse.

Not good for Duke, of course. ;) It wasn't ONLY the NCCU sympathizer vote electing Nifong.

Well, this cousin over at the Durham ABC-12 blog has an opinion on that: _________ Re: Re: BREAKING: Defense SPINS Same Evidence, Accuser had sex w/ boyfriend !! Author: tates5a The DNA sample from the boyfriend did not show up on the ist DNA test. Most rape victims who are in monogomous relationships their partner's DNA would be presence in a degredation form. The DNA evidence is perfectly CONSISTANT with her story and present sex history. The partial-DNA inclusionary evidence from UNDER THE FINGERNAIL is what is damning from the defense. Even Cheshire had to admit that it WAS TISSUE, rather than skin cells from simple transferrence which can happen in a bathroom naturally. Posted: 5/13/06 2:38 PM ________ What's sad is that she really believes this. And.... she's planning to go to law school.

The nail MUST be introduced as evidence now. He can't backtrack on it. It will be used as proof of innocence since it does not have the 13 markers. Less than 13 markers EXCLUDES the accused. DNA is not horseshoes.

"Delores Mangum is related? Crystal registered to vote at her address and also at the Charles St address...within 10 days of each other...those dedicated Democrat voters."

Hmmmm.... I haven't come across a "Delores"; but Crystal registering at two different(?) PRECINCTS?

I may be mistaken; but even if she said they wore a condom, a swab of the "affected areas" would still be required. We are in the age of DNA.

By the time this is over, I will know more about the private life of Durham trash than I will my subdivision.

I can hear it at the pool now:

Pool Gossip:
Hey, did you hear so and so are getting a divorce?

Me: No but Crystal's vaginal swab had her boyfriend's DNA.

See #564 for the judge.

Tates5a is the cousin blogging in Durham. She wasn't the one suggesting the mother (Mary?) introduced the "boyfriend." (Just a prior poster being snide.)

I have the impression "tates" is a woman. She claims to be going to law school in the fall.

Do both of them have to be introduced?

Is where the judge went to school, the same as where Crystal goes to school?? Does he do speaking there or teach a course??

It's not the same. NCCU - historically black school in Durham. UNC - mighty Tarheels of Dean Smith fame in Chapel Hill.

One of his colleagues is from NCCU, tho.

" I was pretty sure (from years ago) that the sticky tab remained on your real nail .."

Mrs WIR now reports that the sticky glue left behind attracted some fuzz and probably a lot of other microscopic debris.
If the FA's flimsy press on nails had truly been " ripped off "- the remaining glue on top would have been a magnet for all kinds of DNA and microscopic evidence.
Nifong would have probably indicted the Kroger security guard ,Durham LE ,the SANE nurse and the ER doc because some of their DNA would have been on top of Mangum's nails.
Most of the legal experts talking about this case still refer to the FA's " nails " yielding DNA and cringe at the horror of her nails being ripped off- as if she had been held in a Vietcong prison.
It's pathetic how clueless and ignorant these " experts " are.

They're part of the report. It's an automatic. You can't just black out what you don't want in the report.
