Duke Lacrosse DNA: Mystery Man Revealed (Accuser's Boyfriend!!!)

May 13, 2006 — The second round of DNA test results in the Duke University rape investigation show "no conclusive match'' to any lacrosse players, defense attorneys said, but a vaginal swab of the alleged rape victim produced DNA from a "single male source'' — a man not on the lacrosse team who did not attend a March 13 party that was the site of the alleged rape.

Defense attorney Joe Chesire declined to identify the mystery man or his connection to the alleged victim, but ABC News' Law and Justice Unit has learned that the unnamed source of the DNA is the alleged victim's "boyfriend," according to her mother.

ABC News is withholding the name of the man because he is apparently not a target of the investigation. Records indicate that Durham, N.C., police gave the "boyfriend'' a cheek swab to collect DNA on May 3, ABC News' Law and Justice Unit has learned exclusively.

It is unclear if or how the first DNA tests missed what appears to be the only foreign genetic material found on the alleged victim's body, defense attorneys said. Two Duke lacrosse players were indicted more than two weeks before the cheek swab was taken from the "boyfriend."

It is also unclear whether the alleged victim had sex with the "boyfriend" the night she claims to have been raped by three Duke lacrosse players. DNA experts tell ABC News that genetic traces of semen can remain in the body up to six days after intercouse.

It's really bugging me that "no semen" swab? And now? A semen swab?.. Given all I've looked into since onset of this case.. somewhere I hear a big "Blame Bush" coming. I hear the hoary feminist harpies warming up their screech vocals.

See, the "rape" happened March 14 (early hours, alleged). On March 13th, President Bush signed a huge package (big) to deal with the backlog of DNA testing, and to IMPROVE THE HANDLING PROCEDURES. There was little to no MSM news coverage of this at all.

However, Project Innocence declares that lots of time DNA stuff gets messed up and because the techies aren't trained very well.

I am not a rabid fan of CSI, and I am not a forensic DNA expert, but I have two observations:

1. I don't believe this is true that DNA could remain there for almost a week.

2. If true - gross.

I understand that you want to talk about the accuser (She's my cousin). I may not LIKE it, but, I understand her credility and her demeanor the night of the rape are essential. BUT, please don't talk about other members of the family. They're gone througha terrible ordeal. Finding out about a daughter's secret life..is so OPPOSITE of where most of the family is. We have a couple lawyers, an orthodonist (By marriage), I'm will be in law school (this fall).

There are many innocent people.

You beat me to it. The election's over. I cannot figure out why he is pursuing a non-case like this.

Because if this case falls apart and he has to drop it, he will be a national laughingstock.

Further, an admission from Nifong that he was over zealous might lead to legal action against him for malicious prosecution and/or misconduct (i.e. what he did to the cab driver, the deals about dropping the indictment for Kim Roberts, etc)

DNA could have been there 5 or 6 days: I think I remember that the little fishes live for about three days and can be seen under a microscope.

She said they used a condom so no Sperm was expected. Are you telling me that didn't put a sample under a microscope?

I assume Crystal is on the pill and was confident that her "donor" doesn't have aids since she was having unprotected sex.

Is her boyfriend white or black?? That has to be a distinguishing marker in a DNA test and the hair without the root UNDER A MICROSCOPE also would likely make the distinction.

Guess what I'm thinking is that her "boyfriend" might be white.

That's what I was thinking of, SkyPilot, when the issue of his race came up. You'll see elsewhere the "cousin" claims the relationship was monogamous & perhaps that she was on the pill. Some of us are skeptical that this guy is "reformed" & is not, rather, a pimp, who may have "encouraged" her to come up with this story.

As I recall, there was an ESPN report quoting an anonymous Duke nurse saying that she came into the hospital wearing a red nightgown, which she was not wearing when she's pictured leaving the house.
