You seem to have missed some of our longer threads on the topic. Might well do a SEARCH and pick up on them.

here wouldb be a nice place to start.. but only after we thoroughly comprehend the professional lacrosse gambling angle...

Just trying to be helpful...;)

I remember JR's forward to Richard Poe's book.

What we're seeing now is an infiltration of paid opinion shapers, liberals just looking to divide Republicans, anti-immigration organizations who have organized an effort here, and the usual trolls.

We've also now... the Faux Conservatives.

I really wish JR would put something in breaking news that we will no longer tolerate the kinds of posts we're seeing today. He's written a few things, but with little effect.

I am in the "detest Spurrier" column. As a FSU Seminole fan- I have a little history watching him over the years with the Gators :)

Maybe he's grown up a little? Has he stopped whining?

I do laugh when I see him make faces and throw temper tantrums; but I don't know the answer to your question.

FOX announced this morning that they would carry the press conference in Durham.

The last sentence in a news article I read says that the press conference would come AFTER (or IF?) the 3rd player is indicted. His lawyer, parents, and some LAX team mates will be there with him.

You did some good work yesterday concerning how Durham politics work! I think Nifong's motivations are becoming clearer the more we dig into local politics.

Check out this article in the N&O prior to Mangum's allegations:

Three vying in DA's contest

"Three candidates in the race also could elevate the importance of endorsements from political groups such as the Durham Committee on the Affairs of Black People, said Irving Joyner, an N.C. Central University law professor. White voters in Durham, Joyner said, will likely split their votes between Black and Nifong, the two front-runners. Bishop is black.

"Within the African-American community, none of the three running are widely known," Joyner said. "African-Americans, in large part, rely on what the Durham Committee decides."

And this article after the election:

Study says black vote aided Nifong

"Often in Durham, whenever there is a black candidate who receives the endorsement of the Durham Committee, then they get a majority of the black vote," said Christian Grose, the Vanderbilt professor and a Duke graduate. In this case, he said, "a white candidate [Nifong] who did not get the endorsement of the committee got a greater percentage of the black vote. That's not to say that race wasn't part of the story, but race was not the determining factor in this election."

By going forward with this case, Nifong managed to neutralize the influence of Lavonia Allison, the head of the Durham Committee on the Affairs of Black People.

Yale and Havard? Columbia?

No, I do not think any southern school like a Duke and a sourthern state like North Carolina are anywhere near like urban New England and Manhattan. The blacks of North Caroliona and Virginia have a totally different sense of respect and tradition than do blacks -- with some rare exceptions such as the Bethea clan -- in the North.

That good to know so I can plan my day; thanks. FNC said the indictment will likely come anywhere between 10:30 and 2:30; 10:30 sounds unlikely to me.

Even though they are my #2 team, I love the Dawgs. I always liked FSU and Marc Richt! SO glad the Dawgs were able to get him!

That is why every GA fan hates Spurrier--those GA - Fla games.

He has the weak DNA, weak photo ID ... so he is hauling in the FA, at least that is what it looks like to me.

Yeah, I would bet some Gloria Allred type has performed a make over.

We get the Dawgs at home this year, so considering how close the game was last year, I'm hoping we can take 'em.

One of the articles says that Crystal would be there. That sounds soooo unusual to me. Her presense is not "evidence" and I doubt she would testify in any way.
