Respect has to be earned. Making veiled (and not so veiled) threats of violence because nonbelievers don't obey their rules doesn't earn respect. Neither does failure by their majority to rebuke and cast out the ones who do so.

Threats of violence classify as assault in most places in this nation.
Showing respect towards the beliefs of others is nothing more than common courtesy.
