NEILLSVILLE, WI (AP) -- The remains pulled from the Chippewa River were those of a pregnant woman allegedly killed by her new husband, according to a forensic dentist.

Shaun W. Rudy, 23, of Thorp, has been charged with two counts of first-degree homicide for the deaths of his wife and unborn child, as well as a count of dismembering a corpse.

His wife, Christine Rudy, 21, was fatally shot Nov. 12, dismembered and dropped into the Chippewa River near the Cobban Bridge in Chippewa County a day or two later, authorities said. She was six months pregnant at the time.

On March 28, investigators found human remains in the Chippewa River.

Authorities have said a tattoo Christine Rudy was known to have was evident on the torso. The state crime lab is still working on a DNA confirmation.

In an April 27 memo to the Clark County Sheriff Louis Rosandich, forensic dentist Donald O. Simley II said a portion of the left side of a jaw was the only part available for "clinical and radiographic" comparison. He also looked at Rudy's previous dental records to determine the remains were hers.

Also charged in the case was Heather S. Teschler, 18, of Thorp. Court documents say she was involved in a love triangle with the Rudys. She faces a felony charge of harboring or aiding a felon and a misdemeanor charge of resisting or obstructing an officer.

Teschler is scheduled for an arraignment Monday.

Rudy has a status conference May 16. He also faces unrelated charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and a firearm as a felon.

Rudy remained in the Clark County Jail Saturday.

Wild animals don't treat eachother the way humans often do.

has been charged with two counts of first-degree homicide for the deaths of his wife and unborn child,

Why is her baby murdered and aborted babies are not? There is no logic in their reasoning.

If a woman went to have an abortion and she died, would the Dr. preforming the abortion be brought up on double murder charges?

Probably because the law draws a distinction between a mother's right to terminate a pregnancy and the externally imposed termination of a pregnancy without the consent of the mother.

It is stupid, but some people actually think this is logical.

Very well said. When a baby is wanted and the mother is killed it's a double-homicide. When the baby is an "inconvenience" it's a glob of cells and it's a woman's right to kill it.

Insane, isn't it? Though I DO have to give my Blue State a hug for seeing this crime for what it was. And really. Is an 18 year old really any hotter than a 21 year old? I'm curious to see what crimes made this husband/perp a felon in the first place...because they're also slapping on the "felon with a gun" charge, too. I'm guessing it was some sort of under-age sex crime...but that's just my educated guess. *Rolleyes*

When, Oh, when is America going to get a Daniel Webster to argue the case against abortion? If we haven't sold our souls to the Devil since Roe v. Wade, I don't know what we've done.

Oh, who am I kidding? The "Daniel Webster" in question was probably already aborted...
