Battlestar Galactica took home three Saturn Awards May 2 at the 32nd annual gala in Universal City, California. The series won for Best Syndicated/Cable Television Series.

Top actors, producers, and production companies attended to also see James Callis ("Dr. Gaius Baltar") and Katee Sackhoff ("Kara 'Starbuck' Thrace" take home awards for Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress on television.

The top television prize for broadcast networks went to Lost, this year's Best Network Television Series. SCI FI's The Triangle also tied with Masters of Horror for Best Television Presentation.

The Academy of Science Fiction Fantasy and Horror was founded in 1972 to honor, recognize, and promote science fiction genre entertainment. Over time, the Academy has expanded from just recognizing film and television to include other forms of entertainment such as home entertainment and video games.

The Saturn Awards honor the most popular and successful releases of the year. At the box office, science fiction genre films continue to dominate with the imaginative stories offered. Many of the highest grossing films of all times are sci-fi films.

Amazing that such original action/drama could be produced on the SciFi channel. Only science fiction fanatics could love the rest there.

Obviously you've never seen "Mammoth". A classic.

I think the Stargate SG-1 series has been good (though they got that from Showtime) and Atlantis isn't bad. Some of their mini-series programs have been pretty good, too. But, yeah, lots of garbage there even for hard-core science fiction fans.

Most of the SCi-Fi channel is crap. I generally only watch it on Fridays or when there is a good show on.

That latest movie they are promoting- the one with the out of control military robots- I commented the other night that the robots look just like the alien robots out of my kid's "Chicken Little" movie. I think "Chicken Little" probably has better dialogue!
