No, 'heartless' is raising a son who would be unfaithful to his wife, would lie to everyone everywhere, and would kill his wife and unborn son.

'Heartless' is poking a mother who lost her daughter and grandson at every opportunity with meaness and viciousness.

'Heartless' is turning your back on your own daughter when she isn't completely, unquestionally, 100% in thrall to her murderous little brother.

My plan included suffering myself to begin to atone for all of this evilness. That's not heartless, that's loving and repentant. Two adjectives that will never be rightly attached to the Peterson family.

Why would you assume guilt for something you didn't do? There are a lot of people who have good raising that turn out bad anyway. The whole notion of atoning for someone else's crimes is foolish and impossible. In fact, it took God Himself to accomplish that feat.

This culture of guilt and self-hate that you have so amply demonstrated is more and more prevalent in our society. Nothing good can possibly come of it.
