Use a shorter cable. When a bit is moving that slowly, they can often die of old-age before reaching their destination. ;^) My goodness... some people just don't know anything about computers. The bits are not dying, they're bored -- you need to use a double-crossover cable to get them flipped around and excited again. It's kind of like a digital roller-coaster ride... they come out smiling and ready to move on. :-)
