Americas parents need to realize that homosexual activists are very serious about taking over our schools and brainwashing our children. They want to indoctrinate our kids with the lie that homosexuality is normal and healthy, and that anyone (including their parents) who believes differently is a homophobic bigot. If you want to get scared into action, check out the website of the Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network (see LINK below). They conduct seminars promoting the teaching of homosexuality to children as young as kindergarten age.
Of course, the National Education Association (the national liberal teachers union) and most liberal politicians also support this kind of indoctrination. Thats why books like King and King are available in elementary schools across America perhaps in your childs school. This childrens picture book is a story about a prince who marries his true love another prince.
What is your excuse for using the government schools?
The only possible acceptable excuse is that your are so poor or dysfunctional that you have no other alternative than to use the government schools, and if you didn't, the governnment would use police, court, and foster care action against you.
Please don't claim that your child's government school is a "Blue Ribbon" school. If they are staffed with graduates of our college and university schools of education, you have no good excuse.
It is not an excuse to claim that you undo the indoctrination your children receive in government school. Why are you subjecting them to government indoctrination at all?
We have a nation obsessed with homosexuality. The schools, churches, government and entertainment are all obsessed with it.
One must do everything in his power to refrain from sending our children to the government sponsored propaganda mills known as public schools.
Not as smart as you...
Heollooooo, American parents. Unfortunately, many are to well educated to know better and would rather belive the lie than protect their children.
My government subsidized public school is 37th in the nation and has provided me with an excellent education. My family pays enough for it; we might as well use it. There is no way in heaven above or hell below that I would ever attend an all-male Catholic school, sorry. My social studies department, the main source of indoctrination IMHO, is overwhelmingly conservative, so very little indoctrination happens. My teacher spent 2 years teaching army brats in the military school at Gitmo. Thanks to the school's AP curriculum, I can be done with a year of college before ever leaving high school. Does your home school do that?
i don't understand what you are attempting with this thread? a flamefest between homeschoolers and those that because it is really the only option available to them, send their kids to public school? i respect my fellow freepers enough to assume that ALL OF US do the best that we can for our kids, and i don't presume to judge the choices that others make. my 3 kids go to private schools, i realize not everyone can afford that, so i would never say HEY DO WHAT I AM DOING BC IT IS THE BEST WAY THERE IS.
Those homos would turn rabid after meeting my son. He's 12, goes to Lutheran school and ADORES Angelina Jolie and that lady thats on 'Alias'. (sorry, can't remember her name).
Ditto. I grew up in an area where there are only public schools. All small, rural, agrarian-based school districts.
Altho there are growing numbers of homeschooling options many people work outside the home no matter where they live because, gosh darnit, we've all got bills and mortgages/rent.
Amazingly enough, I am meeting more agnostics that are choosing homeschooling, too. Even they are sick of the crap in some of these schools.
Get your kids out of the government schools before it's too late.
By the tone of his post, I think he's already done that.
BTW, I like the forensic doom-and-gloom touch. Really cute.
and i take issue with wintertime saying that you can't undo the indoctrination. even in Catholic schools there is a lot of crap that is spouted and my kids KNOW it's crap when it is presented to them. They will come home and say so. Parents are the primary educators of their children no matter what sort of schooling-- home, public, private-- that they provide. if you are doing your job properly as parents, no school is going to un-do it.
one anecdote: my then 10 yo daughter brought into her class, the talking Geo Bush doll, and the Clinton and Kerry dog chew toys, prior to the election last year. Her teacher asked why she didn't have a Bush chew toy. my daughter rolled her eyes and said, well i guess we know YOU are a democrat! this same kid bought herself with her own money a Friend Don't Let Friends Vote Democrat tshirt which she wears to her (private) school. : ) no one is going to indoctrinate that kid, i assure you.
By law, government schools have to practice and promote liberal ideology (the only approved course texts available are liberal ones, and they also have to practice affirmative action, and pretend that God does not exist).
And to answer your question, most high school age homeschoolers I know start taking one or two college classes a semester while in high school, thereby allowing them to complete college in 3 years or less.
It really boils down to most people's experience that in most areas - and education is one of those areas - private parties do a much better job than government bureaucracies. Government schools have turned into cesspools both academically and morally (and also politically).
A public school that is 37th in the nation may be relatively good as compared to other government schools, but we know that government schools have a horrendous track record for the last 30 years.
I say this having attended a government school through 8th grade and also for undergrad - but more importantly as the son of a career public school teacher and a public school superintendant. The only way they could do a proper job was to flout the law. Which they did on occasion. But they hated what the state lawmakers and feds had forced their schools to become.
In a private or homeschool setting there is no need to constantly fight the enemy (of course that depends on the school or the parents). For those who can, either of those options is usually better than a government school.

Yes, it does. I'm glad your school does what sounds like a very good job; vast amounts of the country's kids are not so well served, and should not be forced to swallow what is being crammed at them. Parents who are unable to get quality education for their kids without the radical leftist reprogramming that is very prevalent in this area, are obliged to do for themselves. My sister-in-law (an atheist, by the way), does an outstanding job with her 3 girls, and they have far outperformed their classmates in academics, personal development, social skills, and emotional health.
