Question: How many times a year do I strongly recommend a major new movie to you? Answer: Not very often.
There's a reason for that. There are few movies made that I could wholeheartedly recommend on both artistic and moral levels.
Opening tomorrow in 1,200 theaters around the county is just such a movie. It's called "End of the Spear."

The people (Steve Saint and Mincaye) the movie is based on have been on CNN and FOX NEWS in the last 2 days. Most mainstream media won't give this indie the time of day.
It's an indepent film for broad audiences about a tribe in Ecuador and 5 missionaries who were speared there. Mincaye speared Steve's dad and now they are family!
Opening weekend is critical. Let's help it with our support (get your feet to the theaters). Maybe Hollywood will realize that there is a HUGE audience out there for faith-based films.

I may go see this movie, but if I do, it will be in spite of the endorsement by the sensationalistic hack that Joseph Farah is.

I will probably see it just for the anti-Brokeback mountain message it would send to Hollywierd if it did well.

I just came back from seeing it.
Simple, direct, powerful. You get the feeling of being there, seeing what is going on, nothing feels staged.
Excellent craftsmanship, good pacing, on par with Hollywood films (or better, depending on your view of H-wood).

Forgot to mention, Brokeback was in the theater next to End of the Spear (it is a 16-theater multiplex) - I did not see ONE MAN come out of the Brokeback movie at the end ... only women. Not trying to make a joke, that is what I actually witnessed.
