I saw the original cast on Broadway in 1984 (I think) with Jennifer Holliday, and I had tears running down my face after that song, directly before the intermission. It was stunning.

Did you know there is a film version of Dreamgirls scheduled for later this year? Jennifer Hudson (remember her?) is going to do the Jennifer Holiday role. Dreamgirls
