I'm pretty sure he is.
He started out as the piano player for Bette Midler -- and she met him in the "baths" in NYC.
If he is, I think he's still in the closet. Never seen him advocate homosexuality, nor have I ever seen him with a "life partner" (or anyone romantically.) He was married once, I understand. (to a woman)
