JUST A SNIPPET...(more current info on AI at link)

DialIdol.com

Citing its analysis of Idol phone lines (i.e., the busier the phone line the more popular the contestant), this speed-dialing site predicted that Elliott Yamin would get the hook on Wednesday. The week before, it pegged Lisa Tucker for the inglorious title of lowest vote-getter.

Yamin and Tucker, however, are still around; Corvais and Melissa McGhee, who was bounced the week before, aren't.

So, no, DialIdol.com isn't perfect. (It did much better in the semifinal rounds.) Webmaster Jim Hellriegel, a Chris Daughtry fan who votes for all the finalists equally, said Thursday he's identified a problem in the hopes of making the site more accurate next week.

And, yes, it looks like there will be a next week. Although Hellriegel has heard from Fox's lawyers (over alleged copyright infringement), he hasn't heard from them lately. He even defended the network against conspiracy theorists who allege Fox kept Yamin around in order to call into question DialIdol.com's predicting powers. Said Hellriegel: "I don't think Fox is fixing the results."

MisterPoll.com

There are several Idol polls to be found at this site. The most to the point appears to be the one titled, "Who do you think will win American Idol Season 5?" With some 700 votes cast as of Thursday afternoon, Chris "Daughtery" was misspelled, but safely in the lead.

Thanks for the link--

Clarkson cancels Israeli concerts

JERUSALEM: "American Idol" champion Kelly Clarkson canceled her Israel concert tour Thursday, saying a recently acquired throat illness has gotten worse.

Clarkson performed in Berlin Wednesday after canceling a Paris show, but her condition flared up afterward, and doctors advised her to refrain from singing until it healed, Ha'aretz news service reported Thursday.

Partner Telecom, owner of mobile phone operator Orange Israel and a major sponsor of the concert series, is expected to take a hit after investing approximately $400,000 in an advertising campaign and offering reduced price tickets to customers, Ha'aretz reported. The company said all tickets would be refunded.

Clarkson rose to fame after winning the first season of Fox TV's talent competition.

PUKE is right!

Lifetime puts Fantasia's life on film

LOS ANGELES: The inspiring story of "American Idol" winner Fantasia Barrino is being put on film for the Lifetime cable network.

The singer is expected to play herself in the story of how she overcame sexual abuse, poverty and illiteracy to win the Fox TV talent competition's third season, create a double platinum album and grab four 2006 Grammy nominations, The New York Post reported Thursday.

Barrino released a memoir last year called "Life is Not a Fairy Tale" and revealed she was functionally illiterate and working with tutors to improve her skills.

Well, it would be a two-minute conversation, interrupted by 58 minutes of explaining all of the words used in that two-minute conversation.

Or, now that I think of it more... 2 minutes of conversation, 48 minutes of explaining all of the words used in that two-minute conversation, and about 10 minutes of frustrated screaming along the lines of "I DON'T CARE IF THERE'S AN 'L' IN THERE, IT'S PRONOUNCED 'SAMMON'!!!"

That's what I thought at the time.

She was bragging about being his mother. "You know, I'm Barry Manilow's mother"

Aids was really in the news back then. Everybody was talking about it, and how horrible it was.

Plus, I was there for 3 weeks, almost 12 hours a day. So I saw her a lot.

It's absolutely true.

She was laughing when she said it.

If I remember correctly, she either said she sent it or was going to send it for his 40th birthday.

This was July 20th, 1987 to August something. Find out when his birthday is, and if he was born in 1947.

Also, my son was there, 16 yrs old, with a catastrophic injury.........so my memory is not perfect. But that I remember.

Thanks for the info about Kelly having to cancel her Israeli concerts. I had already seen the news over at KCE, of course. Kelly has toured almost non-stop for about 18 months now. The Israeli concerts were going to be the end of this European tour. Hopefully she will now take a good, long rest. She has had occasional throat problems ever since she was on AI and both she and Tamyra got sick. They still had to perform and do other AI stuff. Kelly got sick in Australia last year and had to cancel some of her New Zealand dates. She was able to reschedule them later. Hopefully she'll be able to reschedule the Israeli dates at some point.
