Yep. My son was the same way when we lived there. And he has a girlfriend who lives in the area, and they visit each other in alternating months, but I suspect when spring comes to Puget Sound, he will beg off. Arkansas is bad enough!

Yes, I would love to go back, but I would also like to go to Iran and Egypt and Morocco and Lybia...but I suspect the political climate for the foreseeable future is not conducive to any of those visits.

If the corporation allows me to retain membership on one of my committees, I will be in Cairo in just under two years. (Yes, that's not like the rest of Egypt...) Sadly, a colleague who used to be in Cairo is now working in Mecca.

A very good idea. A liberal (and Jewish) lawyer friend once asked me, "If there was one right alone you would want to preserve, what would it be?" I couldn't guess, but had to agree with his answer: "The right to leave."

We got ours "just in case" in '94 (first time ever for me). 2-1/2 years and a different employer later we used them for the first time... and have been accumulating stamps & visas since, though I at a higher rate than the Goodwife.

I'm not sure now what the "tortilla" was called...but I loved it. They use a rice that is very long-grained and has a very nutty taste to it, and I found it was very easy to eat. But they also use a lot of green chilies in their cooking. I suspect the reason is to cut down on the incidence of parasites, so it's all good! But for someone who is not used to spicy food, it means a lot of trips to the euphemism!

I don't keep track of which countries are "friendly" to America or not, but the USGOV has some good information on their websites. If I can remember the ones I used, I'll FReepmail you with them...let's hope I can remember in time...

I got my first passport in 1969, and it was only valid for five years. I'm glad the rules on validity have changed. I don't think I would want to be without a passport, now. One never knows...I would like mine to be better used, with lots more colorful stamps and cool signatures, but...one never knows what might happen!

My kids were born a month old.

LOL! James weighed 10 lbs. when he was just over a week old, but he didn't sleep all night until 6 months or so. I don't mind feeding the babies at night ... every bit they eat is weight off me!

I think once we hit 35, the body has a tendency to rebel at everything we "used to do" and "used to eat."

Maybe that explains why I don't have as much trouble as everyone else.

Alkali. Lots and lots of alkali, but the air is a little moister because of the lake.

I suspect that once I'm sure that I don't have more infection sitting in my nose, then I'll just go on going on, mostly with sudafed and scheme to move to a damper climate...say, Walpole Oregon....;0)
