Today is Thursday, Feb. 9, the 40th day of 2006 with 325 to
follow. The moon is waxing. The morning stars are Neptune,
Jupiter, Pluto and Venus. The evening stars are Mars, Saturn,

Although it seems like yesterday, I left the Navy in 1989. It was a good training ground for an undisciplined little cuss as myself. While I didn't exactly enjoy most of my time in, I am proud and grateful to have done it.

The strange irony is how the Navy experience effected my "poetic process." Before going into the Navy, it was easy to write creatively. (Maybe, because I was reading more creatively.) Then the Navy life was too hectic, busy, and "macho" to spend being creative. Now, 16 years later, the creative juices seem to be trying to bubble up again. The odd thing is that the ideas, that come to the surface, were born in the struggles endured in the Navy.
