Merry Christmas!
FNC | 11-16-05

True Value Hardware last night ran a commerical for the Holiday's actually mentioning "MERRY CHRISTMAS" I was stunned seeing this with all the PC stuff being bantered about lately. It makes me very happy I had picked up some electrical hardware at my local True Value store last weekend.

Kudos to True Value!

Why do you think they call it True Value?

Maybe we should start calling up our local merchants who use Merry Christmas and tell them how much we appreciate them.

We complain a lot - maybe it's time to send out a few compliments.

I saw a Merry Christmas ad too. Some of the retailers are getting the picture.

Shhh! Don't let the ACLU find out... cause they'll try to shut them down if they find out.

I hate the ACLU! Can you tell? "ACLU Christmas"

That's a good idea! Call them or make sure we tell them when we visit their stores.

We should start a list here of all the stores that use "Merry Christmas" in their ads, and have their employees say "Merry Christmas". Then we can decide whom we wish to patronize.

At least the Salvation Army bell-ringers always say "Merry Christmas". I'm giving them extra this year.

>> "MERRY CHRISTMAS"

Oldies 103 in Boston went to an all-Christmas format today through 12/26; probably more "secular" Christmas tunes
than the likes of "Away in a Manger" or "God Rest Ye Merry
Gentlemen", but whatever. They ran a promo for a couple days before the switch saying they'd be playing "Christmas oldies
and holiday favorites". While they're still WAY too early
for all-Christmas, at least I gotta give them props for
mentioning the C-word. :)

Why did you use the word "holidays"?  Are you anti-christian, too? You could have used Christmas as a word. (Loki sends,, taking his toungue out of his cheek.)

A long time ago I was taught to say Happy Holidays as not all celebrate Christmas, yet celebrate at that time of year.

How about "Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays"?

Here's Larry the Cable Guy from Blue Collar Comedy telling the story, "Twas the Night Before a Non-Demoninational Winter Holiday":

If a Jewish person wished me a Happy Hanukkah, I would not be offended. They are being nice.

They celebrate Hanukkah, I celebrate Christmas. No one should be offended at someone who is simply trying to be cheerful, no matter what kind of greeting it is.

Of course, if someone said Happy Kwanzaa to me, I'd just stare at them. So I guess I'm not so open minded . . .

But if someone is being nice, who cares what they say! It's the only time of year when strangers actually greet each other with cheer.

I think last year many freepes flooded the ACLU offices with Christian Merry Christmas Cards. I bought a special box for them, and faxed them too. I sure they never made it on their displays, but I sure felt good.
