ANY FREE-THINKING CONSERVATIVES HERE? YOU KNOW, LIKE THOSE WHO OPPOSE THE IDIOTIC MIERS NOMINATION?

Give me one reason why "judicial extraordinaire" Harriet Miers is qualified to sit on the highest court in the land, the Supreme Court. One.

Hmmm...it would require some time, but I know if you browse through FR you will find a great many FReepers opposed to the nomination of Ms Miers. You'll also find many who either support it, or are waiting for the hearings.
Any more questions?

She's the highest ranking lawyer in a coequal branch of government and thus as qualified as the justices themselves or any Senator?

I'm trying to interpret that...
I'm still trying to interpret the purpose of this vanity, disruptor....

Doesn't matter. It just ticks off the libs, so I'm for it. It'd be so funny to see them react to a rummy-ashcroft ticket, wouldn't it?

I dunno, but something about your conservative zeal just reminds me of John Candy in the film, Volunteers.
Thank you, Tom...

The only necessary condition for nomination is that the President made it
The only other necessary condition for being on the court is being confirmed
All other considerations are political in nature.

I fail to understand the meaning of your posting. You should consider thinking, first. You should also consider making your points on some of the hundreds of already existing threads...

now I didn't say that now did I?
BTW I am in the wait for the hearings camp. She will either excel or be exposed in that time.
Pointless vanities screaming about "Free-Thinking Conservatives" is trollish and REALLY sounds like a disruptor from DU. Just saying....

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that not only is the President of the United States smarter than you, he is also more familiar with the process, as well as with Ms. Miers.
At this point, I'll take his side over yours. Thanks, though.

I'm sort of a free-thinker. I think it's better not to go over that cliff with the lemmings who say Miers is bad, and reserve judgement for myself based on her hearings. They haven't happened yet. Jumping on a bandwagon without any basis but the opinions of others isn't a good way to demonstrate "good" thinking. Free-thinking and good thinking should be synonomous but frequently, they aren't.
