I have heard that RR is on level 3.
There appears to be some kind of work around going on since the drudge report has come back for some. And yet I still can't get to several other sites.

Does this have anything to do with the Euroeunuchs wanting partial control of the internet?

Might you (or someone) summarize it in non-techie terms? I wish I had seen this sooner so I didn't have to look clueless too!

"Can anyone translate all this into plain English for us non-dweebs?"
Sh*t's broke.
oh...you wanted the English translation not the southern translation.
To use a different analogy....Imagine in Verizon decided that Sprint couldn't use verizon's telephone wires anymore. Sprint gets pissed and says "oh yeah, you can't use ours"
**Of course the biggest bully of them all, the feds, prevent Verizon or Sprint from doing this.**
Sprinkle a little media hype and a touch of "the sky is falling" and you've got the gist.

Hmmmm. I work from my home office- use the internet ALL day..today I was unable to access several sites. At other times during the day I would be in the middle of entering data and the whole page suddenly went ~~POOF~~ . There were many people here today on FR asking about logging onto Drudge's site etc..and some other blogs.
MOST important..I couldn't get Rush or Levin on WABC streaming today.

Like I said on another thread about this topic:

I can get into both. I don't understand the tech talk.

I can get into both.
What does it all mean? You're bi-internetual?
To: SE Mom
I don't disagree that some sites are not accessible. I wouldn't exactly call it a "net outage" though :) although if FR, rush, AND drudge went I'm not sure what the net would be good for so it might as well be an outage.

I have roadrunner and I can't access cogentco.com.
Bummer. I'm almost out of cogentness. Now what am I gonna do?

well it looks like many people can get to both now. And some people can't. Maybe the techs have been working all day to patch and find other routes to get through on.

THE NET IS SPLIT Half the net has seceeded from the other half. The northern domains are raising a militia to retake the southern domains, starting with the one located at Fort Sumter. All should be back to normal within 80 or so posts.

I get into both VERY quickly, from an Adelphia Cable connection in Vermont. But I must say the internet has been flaky for me the past few days, and I don't think it's the local servers that were at fault.

I tracert'ed both and go to both on the third hop. Both end-to-end routes were complete in 10 hops. My pings report 19ms to L3 and 24ms to Cogentco.
