Linksys seems to be the best of all I've tried, but I, too, was not satisfied with the range. High-gain antennas helped, but the best solution has been a Cisco WRE54G wireless extender. That puppy shoots a signal almost 100' through an aspen grove and brick church to an office annex.

IIRC that extender only works with certain Linksys routers. Is the (fairly standard) WRT54G one of 'em?

Is there any way of knowing if my signal is being tapped into? Would that make me loose the signal? Thanks.

Well, I went the Expander route instead of shelling out big $$ for the newest Linksys SRX setup.

I'd tried the Linksys Expander previously, but it didn't work with the weirdo Linksys WRK54G 802.11g router I had at the time.

Now that I have the more mainstream Linksys WRT54G router, and after some fits and starts in getting it running (it helps to have a hard copy of the manual around for reference), the Expander works pretty well!

Slim, I knew you'd be gratified to hear all this.

Got this little jewel working but can't get the red light to go off.

Hell's Belles, I even logged in and everything.
