Yes, that's what was said. If, as described, these were suffering people on the brink of death who had no chance of survival, I think it was the humane thing to do. I doubt the doctors involved were looking for an excuse to kill people. It would have to be an agonizing decision for anyone.

It is not uncommon for patients in any hospital in the USA that are about to die to be given large amounts of morphine to ease their deaths. The morphine does contribute to a more rapid death than would be otherwise.

We had to take my mother off the ventilator and she was given large doses of morphine to ease her agonizing last breaths. I am grateful to the physicians.

We have too many hysterics on FR these days.
