In a cooperative and collaborative effort, the six broadcast networks announced plans last week to present "Shelter From The Storm: A Concert For The Gulf Coast", a one-hour, commercial-free simulcast on Friday, Sept. 9 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/CT; tape delayed PT/MT). The entertainment special/fundraising event will salute the brave citizens in the devastated areas of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama and pay tribute to the rescue personnel guiding relief efforts in the region.
Sheryl Crow, Dixie Chicks, Alicia Keys, Randy Newman, Paul Simon, Rod Stewart and Neil Young are among the performers initially scheduled to appear. Among the initial celebrities slated to make appearances are Jennifer Aniston, Cameron Diaz, Ellen DeGeneres, Jack Nicholson, Chris Rock, Ray Romano and Sela Ward.
crap no! watching kunta kanye the first time was bad enough. no more, thank you. a word of warning , hide your forks before watching, you'll be desperate to remove your eyes after the first ten minutes.
Did you hear that he was booed in Boston on the NFL kickoff show? Too bad he was taped from LA.
I suppose Randy Newman will be singing "Louisiana 1927." I hope he doesn't try to "update" it.
A must non see.
Many of those celebs named are not known for Shutting Up.
Being a rabid "i hate the pats" person, I was moved, to hear the patsies actually did something right for a change.(kerry & kennedy country)
Don't forget Ellen Degeneres...the sad part is that this is being beamed around the world. Of course it's supposed to be a tribute to the relief workers.
I'm so sick of these guys. Every time there's a disaster, do they quietly write a check? No, they make a big damn deal just to get on tv. "Look at me, look at me!"
Shut up, don't sing, and donate your own money. A whole lot of us out here donated right away and didn't need to wait to see their ugly mugs on tv.
I wonder if they'll try to out "act" each other with the fake shows of compassion.
Good Lord. I think I'll pass.
I see the "Bash Bush" concert is starting on almost all the watchable cable and network channels. I think I'll pass, and watch the history channel instead.
They have Ellen hosting? This is no time to bring out a third-rate affirmative action comedian.
Chris (pointing his finger): "Please donate your mutha'effin money."
Seargent York is on Turner Classic Movies. Just about my favorite movie of all time.
I've seen it about 47 times. Great movie!

Not me, They are going there to bash not sing. Look at the line up.
Hubby and I were cuddling on the couch after our Friday night pizza and listening to the smooth jazz station when this concert came on. After about 10 minutes of the most hideous music I've ever heard, I tried to change the station but it was on all our programmed-in radio stations! Yikes! It was like the Twilight Zone. We finally just shut it off. I'll have to check out this thread later to see if it looked as bad as it sounded.
they have a special on Rome on the History Channel
