"The news on all the cable networks were showing the depth of the tragedy and the situation of those that remained when the Dept of homeland security did not even know what was happening ( they were relying on news from the state officials , TV showed the problems immediately)"

Agree and disagree.

I notice that you bring up Dept of Homeland Security. I would appreciate CNN bringing up the role of the Governer and Mayor. We are actually a republic of STATES. The Federal government is trumped by the STATE government in these instances. My point is the one sided coverage that only puts blame on the federal government. Misplaced blame.

I do not disagree with pointing the finger at the mayor and governor. But we REALLY do need some federal legislation on events like this or terrorist events

If that was a nuke in your back yard it would need a federal action to clean out your area.

The president should have the ability to step in and act .

The head of FEMA has not one wit of experience in emergency management (his last job had something to do with Arabian horse shows) I do not think Chernoff does either

We need a department of immediate response . I am no expert but this has left me shaken . I live miles from the largest hydo power plant in the country, if the terrorist decided to nuke it and throw the entire east coat into blackness there would be such chaos in NYC that the fall out of the bomb would not even be a priority .

This hole scares me and it should scare every American that lives in a large city
