My apology to FReepers for my thread titled "Freepers Are Freaking Me Out.
It was just the high emotions and intensity of the scenes unfolding before us during the last week.
Now, I have a second-hand account of life in the Superdome that has given me pause. To stop and reflect. I still have sympathy and compassion for the people of NO but realize things are not always what they seem on the surface.
I am going to get the account from her in an email hopefully tomorrow.
Ummm, I missed your first post and I feel like I've missed something from your 2nd. Perhaps.... content?
I read your thread, and I am glad you have calmed down some. The heat of the moment has gotten to us all many times! No apology needed!

Latest column: "Tide of Lies Swamps NY Times: Employees Riot and Steal Office Supplies"
Hell, some of the folks in here have been doin' that to me for years !
Didn't know we're supposed to apologize - musta missed that memo...
;-)
Looks like your emotions ran away with you. No problem.
I must have missed it, can't have been anything that serious if you haven't been banned yet.
It's a tough time for the vitims and their friends and family. It's a stressful time for everyone. No apology needed!
Candy would be nice, though.
Welcome back.
The alarmists on FR before Katrina were right. And the alarmists over the past few days have been right as well. The locals, the officials and police in NO and LA, behaved with criminal incompetence. And their caterwauling now bespeaks their fear of being found out and held to account. Too bad the MSM treats those criminal crybabies as golden throated warblers. Hopefully MSM is going down along with those they'd protect.
A little while ago, I heard that the starting cops pay in NO is $16,000. No wonder they were looting. Can you imagine even being a LEO in NO, let alone making that kind of money?
The city leaders had at least two full days to use these hundreds of buses to evac the poor, exactly as their own emergency management plan called for.
Here's the southeast Louisiana evac plan supplement, most recently revised in 2000. Go to page 13, read paragraph 5. It states:
5. The primary means of hurricane evacuation will be personal vehicles. School and municipal buses, government-owned vehicles and vehicles provided by volunteer agencies may be used to provide transportation for individuals who lack transportation and require assistance in evacuating.
Reminds me of Mexico, where except for the uniform and gun, seems some of the cops had essentially nothing except the can of beans and two eggs that was their lunch. The job was worth it for the uniform. For the clothes, for the shirt and pants and shoes.
thank you for that. And thank all of you.
No problem cuz. :)
BTTT
Don't feel like you are alone. I think a lot of eyes are going to be opened in the upcoming weeks. Its just that most people won't have the class to do what you've just done.
The people were told to bring their own water, food for 4 days and stuff to be comfortable on a camp out.
Imagine!

thanks for the info Mike. Welll....I'm not going to say what I am thinking.....
Whatever happened to personal responsibility? He "made me" do it?
