It won't happen for another 15yrs. but at present it's a toss-up between the Hill Country of Fredricksburg, Texas and the coastal area around Eureka, Kalh-lee-forn-ya. Of course if CA falls into the Pacific or goes bankrupt it'll be an easy decision.

Fredricksburg-proper and surrounding is getting way too crowded with tourists, etc. Not too far away is Boerne and Bandera which are still nice.

If I recall, isn't Fredricksburg the home town of Lady Bird Johnson, a.k.a. Claudia Taylor? Wasn't her daddy the richest man in that town?

Do NOT move to Texas when you retire. We have no income tax so it's great when you're working but we pay for everything from property taxes so it's hell with a fixed income.
