The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I'm catching up....

Grits are disgusting. Cream of Wheat is a heck of alot better but southerners seem to like grits. And Hair, they are runny, not thick and good like Cream of Wheat.

Sharn, we can get battered cod but the only fish places this far inland are Dead Lobster and Long John Silver's.

Morning. I was tired and didn't put a caption but check out that dog. I left my camera and had a disposible one and the light not good but he only has 3 legs. He looks like half pit and half lab. According to my mom the police told her a pit bull fight going on and he was thrown in the ring but wasn't a fighter. He was brought to my mom. His name is Cowboy and he gets around real good. He passes out when petted:') She has no kids but she hasn't had any problems with him the year she has had him.

They just said fuel prices would jump 10 cents a gallon in the next few days. Guess I'll run to town and fill up.

Same here today. It's $2.49/gal. With the hurricane shutting down the refineries, and off shore rigs, plus the holiday weekend, I imagine gas will jump in price. We are still going camping and riding this weekend. Truck is getting the hitch put in now.

I just got back. It was 2.56. I may rethink taking the RV when I go to the CTR.

It's about a 2 1/2 hour drive.

That's a good drive. So you're debating driving the truck instead and camping in the trailer?

Yeah. It seems a waste to drive the RV for only 3 days of camping. If the weather is going to be rainy, I'll for sure take the RV:). Otherwise the trailer isn't bad.

It it's cheaper she'll be all for it. She is on a very tight budget.

Ah - well, that's good if she's gonna be happy to rough it if necessary. :~D

It's raining here! That's a good thing.

It's really not that rough in the trailer. I've got a couple of cots, and a Coleman stove, and port a potty:), that I set up in it. The only trouble I've had camping it it is if it rains. The windows or not water tight, and water will run down the insides. It's a lot better then a tent, but not as good as the RV.

Frog and Cav are going to have nasty weather, and I don't know at all what her plans were.

I heard from Ruthy the morning after the storm hit her, she had 'trini' call me. She had lost power (and I would guess it's still out), some tiles missing from the roof, she lost her fence in the yard, but no flooding and they were all OK.
