If my research is correct, the title is "Never been any reason" by "Head East". From the "Sahara" soundtrack.

That was my first thought too. Boston's "Gonna hitch a ride", based on the words "last time", but the whole line comes up in the Head East song.
Geeze... used to have that album. I bought it after seeing Head East open for someone in the '70s.
