I don't want to admit to having done that.

I'm so upset and put out...

You know Steve is compelled my his work to do this "voluntary" water monitoring...it's like an environmental task force made up of volunteers who monitor the quality of streams and rivers and such. Steve doesn't have any choice, he has to do it. He did have a choice of doing it during work hours or taking "comp time" and doing it on the weekend or in the evenings after work, which is a load of crap. I told him I didn't want him doing "work compelled" volunteering on his own time...comp time be damned. If it were overtime, mind you, I'd sing a different tune.

For five years he's been doing it and AS FAR AS I KNOW it's been during work hours.

I mean, he's never home because of school in the evening and I'm just not willing for him to not home in the evening because he has to do forced volunteer work!

So I went to see him at work Monday when I got the goat milk, since it was close by. He had all the stuff for this monitoring on his desk. I asked him "You're doing that today?" and apparently he *forgot* our conversation about the evening volunteering because he tells me "No, I can't do it during the day anymore, the guy I do the collecting with can't do it during the day anymore...he has to WORK."

Well, I said "Is he being forced to do this too? If so, can't he just tell his boss he has to do it during the day with you?" Steve says "Oh, he doesn't have a boss, he works for himself." So the guy has complete flexibility because he works for himself and if he doesn't he shouldn't be volunteering and making my husband spend time away from his family and classwork in the evening.

Well, I got pretty upset, reminded Steve how we had discussed this five years ago and that he needed to call the guy up and tell him he couldn't do it during the evening...he had to do it during work hours.

So then Steve says "I wish I hadn't told you." That's deceit. That made me feel worse. He realized that and told me he'd work it out.

Well, I've been trying to get in touch with him all evening, to no avail, to find out when he's coming home. No answer. So I emailed him and JUST NOW heard back. I asked him "Where have you been?"

He'd been doing the monitoring. After hours. I'm just sick.
