Rafting the whole canyon takes the two weeks. But you can do part in a week.

Unless I get vey series about South Beach (or something), I'm pretty sure I couldn't physically do the hike.

The advance reservation is why I'm thinking my 50th birthday. That's still three years (and two days) away...

I think it's about 10 miles, with lots of steep switchbacks, obviously. Not for the faint of heart. I haven't hiked the canyon since I was a teenager.

You might want to look at reservations now.

None of us are keen on the hike... but that means we have to go on the longer trip ;~D

I'll look into it this weekend. I thought I found some that didn't involve the hike.

But thinking about it, I'm not sure that's possible.

Well, I'd guess hiking ~in~ would be better than hiking ~out~. Maybe we could take the mules in and raft out.

Isn't there one with a 5-mile hike?

Way back when, during the First Age, several of the USFS crew I was on hiked it. We split up, half from the North Rim, half from the South Rim. We met up at the bottom and exchanged car/truck keys. Camped and hiked up the next day to the other side. We had vehicles to meet up again and get back to Sitgreaves in time for work. Long but great three day weekend.

Heh, it was, the key to making it reasonable was the vechicle switch. We didn't feel like down - up the the back down and back up.

If you can't find one, what say we take a chopper down and around?

I've always wanted to do that. Heck, I've always wanted to take a chopper on the Christmas light tour!

(I wanna ride in a chopper.)

I'm over the poundage allowance limit for the mules. Heck, I was over the poundage limit when I was there 25 years ago...

Did the outfitter have a sky-dive option for getting to the bottom? :-)

I'd die of a panic attack afore I got out of the plane.
