I always liked Mac Davis. I got the impression that he was an easy-going guy, just hanging out and having fun with his guitar. I mean, who else would write lyrics like:
Well who wipes me off when I get gravy on my shirt?
And who knows exactly where to kiss me when I'm hurt?
And who'd make love to me in satin sheets or in the dirt?
You, babe...you're my bestest friend.
Well, who takes me home when I get too drunk to dance?
And who bravely puts up with my uncles and my aunts?
And who discreetly whispers I forgot to zip my pants?
You, babe...you're my bestest friend.
And who comes down to bail me out when I get in a jam?
And helps me tell the police where I live and who I am?
And who pats my back when noone else could give a d@mn?
You, babe...you're my bestest friend.
He's like Shel Silverstein was. He's having fun, and the people around him have fun too.

Rocket From The Tombs, Destroy All Monsters... these are bands encapsulated in the 1970s.

Elton John's first album was the soundtrack to the British movie "Friends."
ALL, what about the Hippie Dippie Weather Man?

Mine were purple, to go with my shear purple blouse. Don't do that to me, pb...they don't have a defibrillator here in the office.

Hey I have 2 Destroy All Monsters shows on CD from recent trades. If you're interested let me know and I can send them along.
Although you always ignore me when I bring up trading!

Yes, that's the one! Ugh, the lyrics are worse than I remembered. I can still see the handwritten photocopied page... it was very high tech b/c it wasn't on a ditto machine. Remember those? They were hand cranked and the purple ink smeared until it was dry... and that smell! It could be some kind of test to see if someone grew up in the '70s... do you recognize the scent of ditto ink?

Depnds on whom you believe. According to the movie, he threw his girlfriend's rag doll off the bridge.

Don't forget that one of the most popular fads of the '80's was invented in the mid seventies: the Rubick's Cube.

I remember the 70's talk shows:
The Merv Griffin Show
The Dick Cavett Show
The Mike Douglas Show
Dinah Shore
I loved The Sonny & Cher Show. Graham Kerr had a funny cooking show. I never saw Julia Child's show The French Chef.
