If you know football and wrestling you will enjoy the cast.
Irvin does a pretty good job and so does Nellie. Stone Cold Steve Austin and Brian Bosworth are great as the guards (along with many other wrestlers and football players.)Kevin Nash is a riot.. Dan Patrick has a pretty funny cameo too.
Great week for Burt Reynolds. He slaps a CBS lackey reporter, then tops the box office.
I am a big Burt Reynolds fan. Sure, he's easy to pick on, but for a time, he was the biggest star in the world. Most of us could be so lucky. I've met him a few times and he's a very funny, VERY sarcastic guy. Pretty sharp. One of those guys that will just look right through you if he wants to.
He's also very generous. Here in Jupiter, FL, we have parks and boat ramps that wouldn't be here if it weren't for Burt Reynolds. He had the foresight to buy up land and donate it to the county when it was still affordable.
It's because of his theater that I got to watch Judd Nelson (he was performing in some show there) be arrested at a local night club for ass grabbing every hot girl he came across. They had him in the police car and he was smacking his head on the window screaming "Do you know who I am? My face is my LIFE!" Hilarious stuff.
His old bar (The Back Stage) - down the street from the theater was a great place to hang out back in the 80's. You would see weirdo celebs like Kathie Lee and Frank, Dom Deluise, Charles Nelson Reilly, and others in there tossing down drinks with the locals.
I miss those days because Jupiter was still a small town then. Sigh, now the word is out and everyone and their brother wants to live/visit here.
Favorite Adams quote: "I love deadlines. I especially love that whooshing sound they make as they fly by."
I forgot about Burt who was also good in this version. Gotta love Burt.
They are trying to get Jane to remake '9 to 5' from what I hear...
Good for him "sandler" showed up the critics!
besides Adam Sandler may be a quiet republican, never have heard him dis Bush heard him once saying how he supported the war
'Yard' isn't really a critics movie anyway.
I've heard rumblings that Sandler may be libertarian/GOP.
Im kind of curious to see how they blend all of the althletes together- Godlberg, Stone Cold, Kevin Nash and Brian Bosworth all in the same film...boggles the mind!
A buddy of mine took his teenaged son to see it, and his son hasn't read the books.
He told me that his son asked him, "I thought you said this was going to be funny?"

I liked Longest yard...once you get passed the insane casting of Sandler as any kind of jock
I thought Hitchhiker's Guide was GREAT! I can't wait to buy it!
Were you fans of the books?
The books, BBC radio version, and BBC TV version were all terrific. But I thought the movie really stunk.

I've heard Dan Patrick is funny in a cameo too, and Jim Rome makes an appearance as well?
yard was panned except for USA today--most critics were the self rightious, made fun of racism, gays,of course not as good as the first one which delivered a message..what they don't understand the younger generation will go to this to see Sandler, nash, rock, nelley goldberg etc etc and the MTV jokes--so what does it entertain???yes
I want to see the Hitchhikers Guide. Would you advise me to wait for video or shell out the $30 to take my family to the movies?

They should remake Old Gringo, with Jane cast in the title role.
I'll go just to see Stone Cold act.
