Sandler is considered a comic genius by many

The first sign of the end of civilzation. I mean, we got rid of Yahoo Serious, didn't we?

Compare where the first trilogy's films were in their second week to ROTS. It's incredible to see any film top the boxoffice for a SW film after only a week.
But then, these are different times and Lucas' films are different now. I don't think ANY of the prequel films will get the repeat boxoffice that the Original Trilogy films did.

Recreate a phenomenon you cannot- especially when go from making a 'myth' to 'just a movie' you do.

Actually Adams did most of the script himself before he died.

He must not have been lucid near the end.

Looks like one of the steepest drop offs in history, from 110 million weekend to 55!

Could it be the big stink implying W on the flick as some folk have stated? Just asking!

Possibly, a Lucas backlash for his comments about politics?

I'm betting that Lucas somehow juiced the opening night numbers on Star Wars so that it would beat the record, and is now making up for the gap.

I heard he made a comment about W and Iraq! I still think though Memorial weekend usually makes lots of moola for HELLywood, so we'll see if ROTS is diving down!

If Lucas really wanted the weekend record, he could have opened last Friday, IMO.

It's good to see the public rejecting Lucas and his arrogance!

I thought Hitchhiker's Guide was GREAT! I can't wait to buy it!

Ditto! I wanna see it again before it's out of the theater. Can't imagine walking out...

..Sandler is considered a comic genius by many.

My nephews love his comedies. I thought he was great in Punch Drunk Love, which was definitely not an Adam Sandler movie.

Hollywood has spiraled so far down the morals chain that they no longer have any perspective whatsoever of what Middle America looks for in a movie.

Their own views of right, wrong, fair, worthy of interest have become so corrupted they cannot even create a storyline that we would pay to see.

IMO that is why they are going back to the old scripts and remaking them.

They are in a fix because a drug induced mind that delves into porn, and every perversion known to man can no longer create a plot that mid-America has any interest in.

Pure justice.

I was just saying today - that we might need to record the old Gunsmoke series for our grandkids viewing one day. Great stories that relay the salt of the earth values of right and wrong. They could do a lot worse than Matt Dillon, Doc and Festus.

Monster-in-Law was number one the weekend it opened, and number two the following weekend. It's regarded as a hit, and Jane is getting much of the credit. Get ready for more Jane movies.

Jane's movie was number one the weekend it opened. It is approaching $60 million, in three weeks. Hit.

There is one thing that always beats the trots:
