No one seems to publicly notice that Tom Cruise is totally post. I didn't think The Last Samurai was that bad (even with the Anti-Americanism I can overlook) but it bombed. He was awful in Eyes Wide Shut. I thought that last Spielberg sci fi with Cruise was unwatchable (forget the name he has his eyes replaced). Bottom line is Tom is over the hill, overimpressed with himself and people realize how short he is.
His movies make money. That is the bottom line. People like him. As long as he keeps putting people in the seats and selling DVD's, his name will be at the top of the Marquis.
Minority report is the name of the movie you're thinking of with the replacement eyes. I think hollywood must have a secret vendetta against Phillip K. Dick. They butchered Minority Report, and they had Ben Affleck of all people star in PayCheck.
MINORITY REPORT...... he is also in Spielberg's WAR OF THE WORLDS coming out this summer.
The only thing I really liked him in was JERRY MAGUIRE.
Tom Cruise was very good in Collateral, but he was surrounded by others at the top of their game. Michael Mann is easily one of the best directors today. It will be interesting to see what he does with Miami Vice. I realize he was affiliated with the show, but it doesn't seem like a typical movie for him.
