This is exactly why those preaching about our liberties being abused via Homeland Security (and the Patriot Act) have reason for concern.
Since it was state police and homeland security investigating the guy, and he was apparently well known, the locals must have been paid off or did not care. It's not like he operated in secret. In the county I grew up in, everyone knew who participated in cockfighting.
