I liked that one in this month's Primitive Archer, the long flatbow with reflex and a little recurve. It is kind of inspiring, I'd like to try something like that, next one out, I think. Not sure if I'd use the heatgun or some other method, like steam. I do own a heatgun, forget at the moment why I bought it. Paint stripping most likely. You can set stuff on fire with it, however.
Good evening, everyone.
Evening Sam - The High Performance Selfbow? Marc is a fine bowyer and a true craftsman; his bows are highly sought after. He'll be at MoJAM this year, driving down from Canada. He lives near Thunder Bay I believe. He is also a regular poster on Tradgang.
Sam... did you see that story yesterday/this morning about the two-master that ran aground in California? Apparently was one of those semester-at-sea sort of boats. About a 90-footer, and pretty. Rescued everybody, but they were still trying to get it free of the beach when I left for the office.
I couldn't tell for sure, but it was maybe a barkentine sort of rig. Square sails on the foremast, but a gaff rig aft with a square tops'l. IIRC that's a barkentine, but I could be wrong about that.
It was sure a pretty thing, and it was heartbreaking to see it smacking on the rocks. I have no idea if they got it free again or not.
