Got an email from the chaplain's wife! A bit of news!
Yes, he will be able to jump & run again. I've been calling him the "Bionic Man". He will be put on 30 days of convalescent leave. He won't jump again before we PCS to Mannheim, Germany - 1 July. He's just glad that he was able to get his star above his jump wings before we go to Germany, where they don't jump. He still wants to come back to Fort Bragg to be with paratroopers & jump out of perfectly good airplanes with them. Please keep him in your prayers! "Mrs. RC" Unfortunately, the consequences of jumping out of a perfectly good airplane are that sometimes you get injured. Wednesday night "RC" had a bad landing. He broke his ankle in two places. The fracture in the fibula had to be pieced back together with a plate & 5 screws. The surgery was successful. Fort Bragg has some of the best podiatry surgeons in the United States. He will be in the hospital for the rest of the weekend. He is in a lot of pain, but they are doing a great job of controlling it.
Looks like he's hooked up to a drain...see that device with the springs?
Ooops... glad he'll recover from it without expected ongoing trouble...
Thanks very much for the news about RC. Sounds like he will be back to normal soon. He'll probably become a fairly accurate weather forecaster as a result.
Well, that's what he gets for jumping out of a perfectly good airplane! LOL! No, really, I'll be praying for him to get better real soon, so he can do some more jumping, if that's what he wants to do!
Goodness! Ouch...hope he recovers quickly!
