New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, |

It was sunny and beautiful the day we were stuck inside for the meeting. lol. Only got out for lunch and that was just an hour. *pout*
Oh, man... fajitas...
Don't talk to me about the weather. It's been cold and nasty two days running and now we're getting 1-3 inches of snow.
On one of our trips to NM, one of our engineers (and older guy who puts on airs of great importance and wisdom) solemnly ordered Feee-HAW-taws. He said it with a straight face but we were all cracking up. We tease him still and I have a difficult time remembering to say it right. :)
I need to schedule another trip by May 14 so I'll get a freebie plane ticket.
Bah. Just bah.
I get to go home for a long weekend in July. The sibs are going to help out with the ticket so I can be there for the new HP book release.
Dang! Those cheap tickets go fast. I booked an early Saturday morning flight and an evening Monday flight in the middle of May to get the cheapest fare. Now....do I want to work 4 10-hour days or do I just want to take that Monday off?
At least I'll have a free flight for the MA excursion in August (along with a new drink coupon book.)
LOL!! My dear late m-i-l used to call Coca-Colas, "Co-Cola". Confused the hell out of a waitress when we were having lunch over in Boston one day. She thought Granny was asking for cocoa! Finally I said,"Bring her a Coke, please". The girl just walked away shaking her head.
Mine was more like Fajita Salad. I skip the tortilla and just take all the fixings and mix them up. We were eating up the leftover steak and chicken from earlier this week, since tomorrow is Good Friday. I got Salmon for supper tomorrow night.
Evenin' folkses... [sip]
Well... [sigh]. Almost done with this trip.
That's how Rose like her's.
Y'all remember these?
My cousin/roommate's college friend's kids...
This weekend was supposed to involve them... the c/r and I were going to take them down to a pretty cool aviation museum in Kalamazoo (if you want to look it up, it's called the Air Zoo).
The girl came down with strep today.
Bummer for her, and for the rest of us too. Oh well, at least I got a computer :)
Since I'm trying to "fit in" as a Texan, I usually pronounce it "fah-GEE-tahs" (GEE as in, "Gee Whiz!")
Only when I'm talking to Rose, though.
Evenin' mister Bear.
Hey GI... couple of what seem to be properly assembled kid units there. :-)
Do yuh also order them there Tore-tillahs with some of them Jallah-pain-yohs on 'em? :-)
Pronunciations are big fun up here in Warshinton. It makes it easy to spot the outta-towners. Nothing pronounces like it spells:
Sequim = "Squim", not see-qwim.
Puyallup = Pyoo-allup, not Poo-yallup.
Humptulips = well, Ok, that one sounds like it spells, but its just fun to say.
Des Moines = Technically, and officially pronounced "Dess Moynes", but I simply refuse to do so.
Wollochet = Yes, its french, but us dumb norwegians don't speak french so the "t" is a hard "t", so its "walla-chet" not wollo-shay.
evenin'...
got the new and improved mailbox/bighunkasteel up tuhday... used 200 lbs of concrete... mrsnad painted it like the old one, with Old Glory "draped" over thebox... you'd never know by lookin' at it that it's an arm-breaker...
oh... and got a summons fer jury duty Mar 31-Apr 1...
goin' tuh Sedalia tomorrow with theboy fer a church youth gatherin'... pinewood derby cars, archery, marksmanship... I figgered muh services would be appreciated...
Rosie: continued prayers...
as long as yuh say a blessin' over 'em after yuh done caved in their skull, s'okay by me...
Soli Deo Gloria...
Evenin folks!
Took the kids to the fair yesterday and it was downright miserable. Alyson is going through the worst stage of childhood right now (terrible twos) and she did nothing but cry and throw fits the entire time.
*sigh* I only stayed for a couple of hours and then left the fair, utterly exhausted.
It hasn't gotten any better since either. I put her to bed over 2 hours ago and she just keeps jumping out of the crib. So, I decided to come in here to regain some sanity.
I'm WAY stressed. Some vacation, huh? I feel like the worst mom on earth for being so aggravated with a baby.
I feel worse for Becky though. She only got to go on 3 rides and eat a caramel apple before we had to leave. :-(
Maybe next year.
