Vaguely.
I recall The Cars "Here She Comes Again", Depeche Mode "Enjoy the Silence", and Alice in Chains "Would" more clearly.

She really is a no talent piece of garbage. She epitomizes just how bad pop/rock music is today. Just pathetic.

To be honest, it's not clear who is riding whose coattails. Ashlee's album was at #1 for three weeks, while Jessica has never had an album go to #1.

I know a little about music and singing (underline little). If you are at best a marginal singer, a recording studio can make you sound fabulous (believe me). The true test if someone can really sing is doing it live, which explains why so many of these "pop singers" today lip sync because they truly cannot sing live. A talented studio technician can make most peoples voices sound better than they really are. Ashlee Simpson is exhibit "A". But i agree with you about her sister. All she does is run the scale on just about every note..but then again, listen to most of the "singers" nowadays and they all do it, which proves my point.

Hey! Really! I loved the marching bands. And let me take this opportunity to say I would love to see the college and high-school marching bands perform at half time like we used to see. Now all we have are three or four guys talking about all the other games going on throughout the half time show. I leave the room and fix a snack. I feel for the parents, and I was one, who pay the big bucks to get the band kids to these games and then don't get to see them perform. Bring back the bands and get rid of the "professional" performers and the half brain, half time, has been commentators.

Jessica can hit some notes, but she tries to hit every note during every word of the song-that's my problem with her. I guess I thought her sister was better (the one song of her's I've heard) because she doesn't do vocal gymnastics. If Jessica would just sing the notes, she'd be fine.

I can't imagine why we have to have that kind of "entertainment" half time anyway? Whatever happened to the marching bands and the baton twirlers? It was fun and clean and neat to watch. I'd rather see a bunch of kids doing their think with the bands than to watch something like this person whose only lyrics I could make out were: "I want" and then she gyrated her pelvis over and over. I'm not fuddy duddy but I'm really tired of this. It doesn't take talent to do what she did. Bring back the wholesome bands. Those who don't like them can go get a hot dog or something but this kind of entertainment is being thrust on the audiences and it's getting tiresome.

"Madonna can sing?"

Yeah, like Minnie mouse on helium. Madonna: A thimble full of talent in an ocean of ambition.

I think she is a decent singer, but doesnt have proper vocal training. She is trashing her voice, which is why she lip-synced on SNL. She'll need her vocal chords scraped in a few years.

Lip-syncing was trouble, but her singing live was a disaster.

Lots of gyrating around awkwardly with no talent what so ever.

I can't think of a worse female act I have ever heard in my life.

We should let her perform live at the borders between Iraq and other countries. I am sure the terrorist would flee fearing some new American sound weapon is operating.

It was the music industry paying the colleges and the TV stations for advertising I think.

The school's bands still perform. But you can't see them because they are in the background during the commentating at the start of halftime. Only during bowl games (or pro games) do they bring in special singers for an extended halftime. If the bands are sufficient the rest of the games, they should just stick with them during bowl games, too.

Ashlee’s singing sounded like a cross between a political prisoner being tortured and a test of the Emergency Broadcast System.

Great stuff.

Her last gasp of fame will be on some horrid reality show, no doubt.

She is scheduled to play at the Ryman Auditorium this spring. (The "mother church" of country music for those uninitiated to the Grand Ol Opry)

One of the local morning TV hosts wants to start a protest because she is even allowed to walk on the stage.

But wait, they were much better, weren't they?
