That was EgyptAir 990 that went down in the Atlantic soon after take-off from Kennedy airport (a popular place for terrorism) in October, 1999. President Clinton and a couple of cabinet members went before the press soon after the plane disappeared in the middle of the night, well before any investigation could get underway, and announced it was not a terrorist act. I knew immediately that it was a terrorist act. That's the way to listen to liars.
Val, I wasn't a member here before 10/2001, so the airplane crash I'm talking about was after I joined (because I was posting)....and it took off from NY, too (I don't remember the month or year of the crash...except that it was after 10/2001.) (Unless I'm confusing what you're actually talking about with the crash I'm referring to.)
P.S. I didn't know about the crash you were talking about, and that they came out immediately afterwards and denied it was a terrorist attack. I assume there must be threads on here about that one, too. You think the same as me: When someone immediately DENIES something, before there's any chance to get information, then I already know they're lying.

Yes, I was mistaken as to which flight you were talking about. I now remember that TWA 800 flight, with the missile....I watched that intently and didn't believe what the official report claimed it was....I believe that was via a missile.
You are right...the one I'm thinking about is the one that crashed over Long Island, I think it was...on a clear day, after 9/11, and the official report denied that was a terrorist attack, too....

Just a quick check in. We made it to DC uneventfully. That idiot hold up in the van threatening to blow it up near the WH had traffic snarled up something terrible. Took us forever for the cab to get us close enough to our hotel and even then we finally bailed out and walked the last 3 blocks with our luggage on wheels in tow. Luckily our cabbie had a good attitude about it and mostly just laughed at the situation. Better than cussing.
Apparently it's a domestic child custody issue. yeah, this little stunt ought to impress the custody judge that he should be in charge of children.
I didn't know that when you fly into Reagan Natl anymore you have to sit down for the last 30 minutes of the flight. They give you a couple of warnings before that in order to use the lavatory, but after they announce it you must stay in your seat. If anybody gets out of their seat during that time they have order to divert to Dulles and call the authorities to come out and have a chat with you. heh.

I don't remember Clinton saying immediately that it wasn't a terrorist act, but that it became an underwraps investigation that would stay tight lipped until the findings were made.
I do remember there was controversy. I also remember a lot of conspiracy theory stuff that totally turned me off to the controversy. Rush Limbaugh had one of his close personal friends who headed the investigation, and Rush swears the guy wouldn't have compromised the truth.
The legend lives on, the great controversy of all the witnesses that saw the vapor trail going up into the plane will never let the controversy die. Plus, none of us will ever trust a group commissioned by Clinton.
Take some pics of the crazies for us and give us a good report.

I'm sure you're right about not that many people thinking the 10/2001 being a terrorist act...and that more believe that TWA 800 is. (Although it's my opinion they both were terrorist acts, I believe more strongly that TWA 800 was).
