What other effect can such praise from a Marine and hero have on me?

I'm not sure what I'm s'posed to put in the corners - what do you fill dry wall corners with? Some sort of caulking? There's nothing there now - the first layer was wall paper, so they never bothered with any kind of fill.

Mudding and taping is hard. Would a painted corner molding cover it?

Steve borrowed it from his boss...who borrowed our shop over the Christmas holidays to hide his son's boat...he kinda owed us one.

But when we got it we found it didn't have any RAMPS! No problem at the guy's house where we picked it up...we just dropped the back of the trailer into the ditch and pulled the bug up easily...but we don't have a ditch.

In the pictures you can see us working on it and it's daylight, but by the time we're backing it onto the ramps I built, it's dark! Took us forever!

Hey, I wish you coulda seen us driving home though...with that bug on the trailer behind us. People were amazingly tickled with the picture, I guess...lots of smiles and waves! No grumpiness even though we were driving very slow.

How exposed is your dry wall? If it's smoothed over and just not painted, then you're right, all you have to do is prime it.

The seams were sealed, but the seal is a little rough. We were going to just sand 'em down and spackle. But the corners are...empty. If that makes sense.

We're down to that brown paper stuff on the sections, and they're in good shape.

That's kinda what I was hoping...that it was just a matter of covering it or filling it.

I'm not really working for perfection. I figure whoever buys the house will likely redo everything - the rest of the rooms need even MORE work, which I ain't gonna do. But it at least needs to look...like something other than bare wall.

If you've got space there, you need to tape and mud. But talk to the folks at your home improvement store. They may have another option.

The hardware store guys might have an idea, I guess. Though I hate goin' in there. *sigh* If I get the right person it isn't so bad, but sometimes...

I don't like being treated like I'm an idiot just 'cause I'm female. Even if it may be true. ;-)

A picture would be worth a thousand words... I think we are all amazed that it was never taped and textured. Can you take pics?

If you bought the sheet rock mud without the tape you might be able to fill the seam if they are tight, but it'll crack the next time the temperature changes in the house.

But taping and texturing is a fine art.... We hired it done because it's hard to do well, and an enormous mess.

Then it really depends on how big a gap that is. If it's just where the corners meet, you could probably spackle and sand it. But if there's a gap, you need to cover it.

NOTHING was ever done right in this house with regards to wall covering. So I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

I'm OK with doing a slapdash job. I shouldn't be, but I can't afford the time or materials for much more...especially when it's likely to be redone soon. I'm about half tempted to just do it with putty or something.

I was originally just gonna spackle...it's just hard to reach in. And it looks like it needs something more...which is why I was thinking caulking or something.

Maybe I can take pictures tonight. And get some more eyes on it locally, too.

OK - this is one cheater thing that might work.

White bathroom caulk in a tube, buy the caulk gun too, would probably be flexible enough to last a few months without cracking. Put it on and then smooth most of it off with a wet cloth, do it more 'coats', not just thicker, if it doesn't cover in one application.

Remember, if you ask the hardware guys, they're likely to try to "upsell" you anyway. Do your homework before you go and you'll know how much of it is crap.

I absolutely love going into computer stores. They treat me like a ditz for thirty seconds and then the look on their faces when they realize I know what I'm talking about.... too bad it can't be the same way with cars and hardware.
