The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

OK, I'm gonna funkle on outta here. I got some great pictures of my sister's house on the Gulf Coast of MS with snow on her deck overlooking the MS Sound. I'm gonna see if I can get it posted tomorrow (or later today!)

Rose and I knew some guys who regularly attempted the annual 3-Day Novel Contest. Their goal was 30,000 words over the three days.

IIRC, a short story is generally 2000-5000 words... a novella is generally around 20,000 words. Novels start at 30k and up.

Hi there, and hope you had a merry Christmas!

I have had the RoTK EE since the day after it came out, but have only had time to watch part 1. Hopefully I'll get to watch part 2 this week sometime! I am liking it very much so far...

Good morning!!!! Did I beat Lil'freeper here this morning??

I got up to remind Steve to take out the trash. Got some coffee, sat down, talked to Steve about his ankle which is still giving him grief...he left.

Here sits the trash.

Heh!! Remember when our pipe broke? The plumber and his son wore the same thing, a teeshirt with their company logo on it...neatly tucked in.

I saw a plumbers contest on TV and the contestants wore over-alls...

They're trying to combat their reputation, I believe! LOL!!!

Good morning!

Did you see that Lunasa is coming your way?

Yeah. I'm playing breakfast hostess to the inlaws. We're real estate shoppin' again today....

Good morning! (Can I get you bacon and eggs, a bagel? Maybe some apple cobbler? How about some oatmeal?)

Good morning!

Back at work.

At least it's snowing! Wish we were actually supposed to get a decent amount, but no such luck.

OK - thanks, Bear! So...this could be a short novel in the end. That's a good thing, IMO.

How's your car??

Mine still blows the fuse now and then...sigh...

I really wish I could meet the engineer who tied the transmission fuse into the dome light fuse...

I thought after you had your accident you thought your car was out of alignment...I never heard what happened after that!

You mention it's snowing and I worry to death. ;-)

Oh...I haven't had it looked at yet. I think I was overreacting at first, though it's possible it's very slightly off. I'll probably have it looked at this week or next.

Well, my brake light still keeps coming on. LOL!! But it only flashes on for a second when I apply the brakes...then it goes off. I'm wondering (hoping?) it's just part of the whole fuse problem.

Needless to say, I don't get on the highway with it. Thankfully, I never have the need.

After everything settles down for Christmas, I'm going to get it fixed...I promise.

Mornin'

fitnessdwarf back at thegym: good

fitnessdwarf back on the scales at thegym: bad

But at least I made it there, then the chiropractor, then the grocery store.

It's cold out. Was 19 at 6:30 when I went to thegym.

I was going to do yard work today, but decided against it. It's my last day off for Christmas, so I'm not doing any work. Maybe I'll plan my square foot garden...that'd be the same as yard work...right?
